Is buying a Used Skoda Laura advisable?

Skoda is a very premium brand and commands much respect. The Laura is the executive sedan from Skoda stable and we explain whether is it advisable to go for a used Skoda Laura or not !!

The price for a new Laura starts from Rs. 16.9 lacs and the company and if we look at a car from the years between 2009-2013 you could get a good car with a price starting from as low as Rs. 5.50 lacs.

Skoda is known for sturdy cars with a superior build quality. The Laura also has a good diesel engine which returns a good mileage of between 11-16 kmpl in the city and 16.5 kmpl on the highway.



The Skoda has a big boot of 560 litres which can fit in quite a bit of luggage. Cabin quality is really top notch with a mix of dark wood, chrome and good quality plastic. The car is a good mix of style, elegance, size and comfort.

But keep the following things in mind when buying a used Skoda Laura:
- Preferably go for the 2.0 litre TDI variant
- Also go for only those cars whose entire service history is available as Skoda spare parts are really really very expensive. 
- One of the biggest complains was an ineffective or defective airconditioner, so be sure to check this properly before buying.  Getting the airconditioner repaired could cost you anywhere between Rs. 10000-50000
- Check the engine light on the center instrument console. This could indicate some problem and should be looked into. 
- Clutch assembly should be checked. Check that there is no time lag between shifting to higher gears and picking up of speed.
- Try accelerating hard to see whether the pick up is smooth or not.
