India’s first electric double-decker bus launched in Mumbai
Union transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday launched India’s first electric double-decker bus at Y B Centre in south Mumbai. Named Switch EiV 22, the double-decker bus will be run by the Mumbai civic transport body from September.
On his Twitter handle , Gadkari wrote, “Ushering Sustainable Revolution! It gives me immense pleasure to launch the Ashok Leyland’s Electric Double Decker Bus in Mumbai today.”
Giving Dynamic Boost to the sustainable transportation sector, such initiatives are cost-effective solutions and achieve PM Narendra Modi’s vision of AatmanirbharBharat by cutting down oil imports and promoting indigenous resource and services,” Gadkari said.
Equipped with the latest technology, ultra-modern design, the highest safety and best-in-class comfort features, the buses will ensure smooth travel for passengers. It will be noiseless and will also have charging points for commuters.
