Mahindra Genio (facelift)
Expected Launch Date: Jun 2016
Mahindra Genio (facelift) will make its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, followed by the launch at the event. The Genio is the Xylo-based pickup which is already on sale in several international markets. The facelifted model of the vehicle will be more practical and premium than the outgoing global model. Unlike the Quanto and Xylo, the Mahindra Genio will target the commercial market. Upon its launch in the country, it will face the competition from the Isuzu D-Max.
For the Indian market, the Genio will be made available in two variants – Single Cab and Double Cab – powered by a 75bhp, 2.5-litre mDI CRDe diesel engine. Power will be delivered via a 5-speed manual transmission, coupled with 2WD (two-wheel drive) system. The vehicle shares resemblance with the Quanto facelift and Xylo facelift, and looks more rugged and aggressive than current model.
Mahindra’s Genio (facelift) pickup might be launched alongside the Quanto facelift at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Though, there is no official confirmation about the launch details of the vehicle.
In India, the facelifted Genio could be priced at Rs. 5.98 lakh for the Single Cab variant and Rs. 6.25 lakh for the Double Cab variant. If launched at this price, it will become the most affordable commercial pickup in the country.
The Mahindra Genio facelift is built on the Xylo platform, and borrows some of its design elements from the Qunato facelift. With features like black metal grille with rectangular floating elements in silver finish, new contoured bonnet, raised LED daytime running lamps and revised air intakes, the updated model of the vehicle looks more refreshing and sportier than the current one.
The pickup also gets revised front bumper, new headlamps and integrated fog lights with chrome highlights. The Genio facelift will be offered in 4 color options – Skyline Blue, Diamond White, Marvel Granite and Silver Shine. The interior, too, is likely to see several updates. The new Mahindra Genio model might be equipped with dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and cruise control.
