2021 Citroen C5 Aircross compared
The Citroen , a new brand for India, has its promos very effective to attract the buyers.
With the Citroen C5 Aircross being priced at the premium end of the segment, it will give tough competition to the Jeep Compass , Hyundai Tucson, as well as lower variants of popular full-size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The Citroen is brand new for India, but its competitors have all been facelifted/refreshed within the year, with the exception of the Ford Endeavour which has seen a new variant (the Endeavour Sport) added to the line-up in 2020. The VW Tiguan 5-seater when it's launched shortly will be another option
Citroen C5 Aircross Powertrain Vs Competition
Citroen's C5 Aircross is only available at launch with a 2.0-litre diesel, producing 177PS/400Nm torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic - power that puts it in the middle of the pack, with segment-topping torque that equals the Tucson. It offers different drive modes spanning snow, sand, dirt and grassy surfaces, though it is strictly front-wheel driven. The equivalent Jeep Compass diesel also packs a 2.0-litre motor, with 170PS/350Nm sending power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic - Jeep doesn't offer a 2WD diesel automatic. The Tucson utilises a 2.0-litre diesel, with 184PS/400Nm, making it the most powerful SUV in the segment, mated to a 6-speed automatic, and is available in both 2WD or 4WD.
The Fortuner has the largest engine at 2.8-litres, packing 204PS/500Nm, mated to a 6-speed automatic, and is also available in 2WD or 4WD versions with the auto box. The Endeavour, since its facelift, is limited to a 2.0-litre diesel engine, producing 170PS/420Nm routed through a trick 10-speed automatic, and again 2WD or 4WD variants are available with the automatic.
Citroen C5 Aircross Dimensions Vs Rivals
Of the 5-seater SUVs, the Citroen C5 Aircross is the largest, at 4,500mm length, on a 2,730mm long wheelbase. Against the Compass' 4,405mm length and 2,636mm long wheelbase it's especially apparent, though even the Tucson's 4,480mm length and 2,670mm long wheelbase are overshadowed by the C5 Aircross. The Fortuner, at 4,795mm in length, and on a 2,745mm long wheelbase nearly matches the Citroen in its wheelbase, and should give an idea of the space on offer in the smaller Citroen. The Endeavour is the largest among the pack, measuring in at 4,903mm in length, and 2,850mm in wheelbase.
