Maruti Ritz
The Ritz has a soft corner in my heart. No matters what car I get to drive, I know I?ll always come home to Ritz. Even my girlfriend seems to appreciate the car to the extent that she prefers it over bigger cars like the Jetta.. As I departed for the Rajasthan trip, I discovered the boot is just not sufficient for more than two big bags and I had to keep some luggage on the rear seat.
The loading lip too is a bit too high. I?m also in the process of moving house and tried ferrying the smaller stuff in big cardboard boxes. This came easy as I folded down the rear bench. The tallboy design not only means better headroom at the rear but also for huge boxes if need be.
The Ritz is due for a service now and the clutch needs adjustment. I?m very impressed with the performance of the car being driven hard for about six months. After having driven the similarly engine Fiats for over 1200km recently, this one just feels like it?s from a different world altogether. Sorry for sounding repetitive, but I just love the way it revs and the way it performs. It has been reasonably fuel-efficient too, delivering about 14kmpl on a combined cycle, of course with a heavy right foot most of the time.
